Gary Brown - VFX Producer / Supervisor
I’ve worked in the post and visual effects industry in London spanning three decades. I did 8 years at Soho 601 starting as a runner in ‘93, moving through library and tape op duties to junior online editor. I cut my teeth on music promos (Prodigy’s ‘Firestarter’ was in my first week!) before becoming lead Henry artist and Board Director.
In 2005, after a few years freelance VFX consulting, I co-founded a boutique VFX company with my wife George called Munky. We worked across film, episodic TV, commercials, music videos, fashion promos, art installations, experiential events and concert visuals. During that time I was nominated for an Emmy as VFX Supervisor on HBO’s Into The Storm (2009).
In 2016 I folded Munky into Technicolor’s Soho facility which kick-started Technicolor VFX with me as Creative Director. Our team grew and focused exclusively on high-end episodic and theatrical projects.
In early 2022, I decided to jump production side and pursue a freelance career as a VFX Producer and Supervisor which I’m really enjoying. More recently I’ve introduced my own bespoke artist teams to reduce costs on my projects which works well.
